Mindset / Day 4: Get Real About Your Goals

Day 4: Get Real About Your Goals

Focus on What You Actually Want

When was the last time you stopped and asked yourself,
“Are these goals really mine?”

It’s so easy to chase goals that sound impressive, look good on Instagram, or were handed to us by family, friends, or society.
But real, lasting motivation?
It comes from goals that are deeply yours.

Today’s mindset shift is all about getting radically honest: What do you really want—and why?

Why Real Goals Matter

When you’re chasing goals you think you should want, it’s easy to lose steam.
You procrastinate, self-sabotage, or feel “blah” even when you make progress.

When you’re chasing goals you actually want?
You tap into an energy source that’s deeper, more resilient, and way more fun.

Your dreams don’t have to be impressive to anyone else.
They just have to matter to you.

Today’s Mini Challenge: Clarify Your True Goals

Here’s your mission for today:

  1. Write down one major goal you’re working on right now.
(Example: “Save $10,000” or “Change careers” or “Get in shape.”)
  2. Ask yourself:
    • Do I genuinely want this—or am I chasing approval, status, or validation?
    • If nobody else knew about it, would I still want it?
    • How will achieving this make my life feel better or freer?
  3. If needed, tweak the goal so it feels more aligned with your true desires.
(Example: Instead of “I need to be rich,” maybe it’s “I want the freedom to work on my own terms.”)

Example:

  • Old Goal: “I want to buy a luxury car.”
  • New Real Goal: “I want to feel proud of my financial stability and enjoy small luxuries that align with my bigger dreams.”

Mindset Shift for Today:

“I give myself permission to pursue goals that are aligned with my values, not anyone else’s expectations.”
